The Simplex Tour de France rear derailleur hanger tab is of a very specific form that will not interchange with others . It should have an outward jog which allows space for the primary top tensioning spring to reside .The chain tension is done by the pulley at the end of the piston . The pulley swinging with the cage is set up to give some tension of the chain into the cluster. Refer to The Dancing Chain or one of Chuck's Simplex reprints .
