Before Sydney Olympics , Riefenstahl's film of Berlin Nazi Olympics1936 was on TV in Japan and I could see the road race for a few minutes. I could find that the French team which won was using rear derailleurs(Simplex?). So the derailleur was not prohibited in Olympics then. I think I saw some chain-tensioners of Vittoria or Super Champion derailleurs, but it seems to me that many other racers did not have derailleurs.
I would like to know which countries used which derailleurs. Was the French victory indebted to their technically advanced derailleurs?
    Many thanks in advance.
