List Members,

I have talked at length with Jeff Gilmore (Third Hand Owner) over the years, and although I'm very sorry to see he is finally "pulling the plug", I'm not at all surprised. The inside front cover sums up The Third Hand's position pretty well.

Jeff has been a wonderful reference person for doing the "oddball" stuff (I'm famous for it!) and generally only requires various dimensions and can dig something out of the stockpile to make your project a "reality"! I will certainly miss the "support" and wish both he and Jean well.

It is also fairly ironic, that in the newest Rivendell Catalog (which arrived the same day as The Third Hand catalog), Grant laments (it was a eulogy for Brooks)..."seems that in order for an industry to sustain both traditional gear and the high tech plastic stuff, it has to not be the bike industry." Yes, these are scary (and screwball) times with the Bicycle Industry! Hopefully we can ride it out! (no real pun intended!).

Ciao,
