Dear Eric, Some friends of mine bought a barn south of Dieppe in Northern
france some years ago. In it was badgeless old racing bike which eventually
came my way. This had such a stem. The bars are also Caminargent. When I
stripped them I found a steel ferrule with "C" in a crest on it. The bike was
in a terrible state. It had had an Osgear, there was a braze on under the
bracket for the arm. As found it had a Juy Simplex from 1948- ish
period.Chainset was "Acier Diamant" - a very delicate steel job.Brakes were
Bowden. I would guess the frame and most parts were pre war. Who knows this
machines story. It could have been used by the Resistance although I found no
maps or explosives in the tubes....!
