Seems appropriate for me to respond since I bought the bars in question. I think a lot of you folks take for granted having access to a lot of classic bike parts. I ,like the Asian buyers that people have talked about before, don't. The only way I get access is via Ebay and the other Web based sites like Bicycles Classics etc. I have never seen a set of Masi engraved bars before anywhere. Maybe the panto'd whole 3V bike was a good deal, how many of them exist? What is the price of a new set of handlebars these days and what would it cost if they were engraved? The price of Classic parts is only going to go up and get in shorter and shorter supply. What seems pricey now will seem cheap ten years from now.

As far as "sniping" is concerned anybody that bids any other way is a fool as far as I am concerned. Ebay is business and I am certainly not going to play games running the price of the object up before the end of the auction.

Cheers from the frontier, Juneau Alaska.

Classicists,

I rarely comment on the eBay wars. While I do participate, I rarely "win", mostly because I don't follow closely enough, or "snipe" at the end. This past week as time allowed I watched the auction for Masi engraved handlebars (Item # 1103546521). No doubt they were nice, but certainly not perfect with a visible scratch across the medallion. Despite the temptation I followed my better judgment and let 'em go. It mattered not, they were way out of my range...$ 63.00!!! Thank the Almighty I don't have an unfinished Masi project right now (Good thing they weren't engrave Colnago). At such prices the all engraved Masi 3V which went for about a grand last month was a steal.

Regards,

Carlo Carr New Orleans (anybody have any Bayliss pantographed parts?)
