At 00:14 1/10/2001 -0800, Marc Boral suggested that the Campy steel post was collectable in part because it was a flawed product, a market failure. I think many of us enjoy having examples of such bloopers in our collections.

One of my early "Coup" was finding two NOS Campy Sport derailleurs (one jockey wheel, a really awful system that could handle 16 - 22 teeth), for $5 each. One graces a plaque I built for a friend when he finished his PhD at MIT. A humility reminder...

I also have a Campy Gran Turismo Boat Anchor and Chain Twister on my wall, recently retired from duty as an olympic weightlifting weight. Well, I exaggerate a bit, but there are great stories there.

It's a fun part of the hobby, and I don't even worry about the "value" in the market. It's my version of fisherman's tales...
