I'm amazed sometimes what people want. Sometimes it really is just for a paperweight, desktop sculpture, whatever you want to call it -- I've had someone offer me $10 for a broken Campy dropout I'd removed from a frame, so $10 for a broken stem with no quill cone or bolt sounds perfectly reasonable in that context. At least the stem isn't covered in burned paint...

(Personally, I used to use practice brazing joints as paperweights, wire brushed but not filed or polished. They were a good way to spot bike geeks -- most people looked right past them, other people picked them up and could tell what angle they were just by looking...)
