Subject: [CR]Masi Thanks

Instead of trying to thank everyone individually, I thought I'd just use a CR post to thank everyone who responded (both on and off list) to my Masi note and questions. I've gotten lots of additional info and enough positive reinforcement to at least make me FEEL like I made the right decision in pursuing this thing. The seller was very helpful, and seems confident that he knows the complete history of at least the bikes ownership, if not it's actual origins, since he bought it from a close friend who bought it new. He was as concerned about getting it too me safely as I was. He asked advice on packing and even sent me pictures of the process, one showing all the frame tubes completely encased in bubble-wrap before it left the workstand. The bike left Wisconsin yesterday, so I should have it next week.

The seller claims the bike is equipped as it was originally purchased in '77 with the exception of the saddle and large chainring, which he changed when he bought the bike (and set it up for his wife) in '83. On the issue of the wheels (hubs actually), he said he had made a mistake when he photographed and listed the bike, and that what he was sending was the original matched high flange hubs, not a high-rear, low-front as was pictured.

I guess I'll know a lot more by next week, and be able to provide a better report and more pictures. And I still plan on tossing it (gently) into the truck with all the other Cirque-bound bikes. Clearance sale time!
