The Cirque (my first) was indeed a wonderful event. Special thanks to Brian for his frame building session. I think we all gained many insights to the craftmanship that goes into the frames that we love.
I was especially impressed by Brian's aplomb and skill in successfully joining the seattube - lug - headtube assembly. Although he expressed his expectation repeatedly that the joint wouldn't be successful due to the lack of his "clean room" environment and the requisite surface preparation materials and solvents, and the rush to complete his session within the allotted time, he made it work. Was it the fear of failure in the full view of so many cognoscenti, planetary alignment, the heretofore undiscovered cleaning properties of a lemon-scented towelette, the bow tie on his immaculate shop apron, or just masterful craftmenship? No matter which factor(s) made it work, he made the concept of building one's own frame seem a bit more accessible to many of us. Scary thought...
Hey Brian: could you autograph a (used) scrap of 150grit garnet paper and post it to me? Tee hee.
