Subject: [CR]Old Fenders

Hi all,

I recently acquired a 70's Stella on eBay that I thought to clean up and use for wet weather because it had some neat old Bluemels fenders, one with a mud flap even.

I managed to get the front fender adjusted just fine, but the rear was missing one attaching tab which caused it to rock back and forth through the seat stays as it took a whim. To top it off, the struts (I wonder what they are really called) that supported that rear fender and attached it to the chainstays were evidencing having been bent and re-bent, probably from trying to solve the problem with wheel drag that is frustrating me. And of course I re-bent them some more, trying to get the fender to clear reliably.

The look of the fenders is cool, at least to me, and they could certainly be useful, but I fear this rear one is beyond hope. Does anybody have any ideas? Are there new replacement struts available anywhere? Does the missing flap on the attaching tab on the fender spell disaster? Maybe Bluemels is not extinct?

Thanks for your time, Paulie *Foggy on Fitting Fenders* Davis In Equally Foggy Los Angeles
