Subject: [CR]Tom Kellogg Bicycles

Does anyone know the story of why Kellogg cycles ceased to be (later resurected as Spectrum Cycles in the early 80's)? While attending college I used to train with a fellow from the Allentown, PA area. He road a beautiful Kellogg that was rear-ended in an accident (by yours truly). He shipped the frame to Tom for a repair and as I recall was told that Kellogg decals could not be reinstalled after the repaint. Some one mentioned that Tom had "sold his name" thereby forfeiting the right to use it. Is this really what happened or was it something simple like Tom no longer had any Kellogg decals? Anyone know for sure? BTW, I'm looking for a Kellogg road frame (about 58cm c-c) if anyone has a line on one.
