Rick's comments below brings to mind the probability that back when, different models were developed for different markets ...

Which, over here, was occupied by the PR-10L ...

Now, that sounds a LOT like the PR-10L sold in the states, though I'm not sure of the wheels - 531 main tubes, seamed fork blades, unidentified stays with Simplex forged dropouts and NO chrome on the rear triangle. Usually seen over here with Stronglight 49 cranks.

There was also, what, a PA-10, with the basic Peugeot seamed tubing, steel cottered cranks, that used Normandy Sport hubs with AVA tubular, non-eyeletted rims - in essence, a U0-8 with tubulars. I thought the ones I saw here in little old Greenwood not all that long ago were one-off's, until I got a copy of Chuck Schmidt's/Velo-Retro's Peugeot catalog compilation and read it. I don't think many of those were sold ...

Now, I am sure the records are long gone, but I'd be willing to bet that you could rank Peugeots sold in the States anyway ...

U0-8 - for a while there, wasn't this THE bike boom bike? Gazillions sold. A0-8 - for those with a little less money PX-10E - again, lots of these sold, and I suspect no swap meet is complete with a couple ...

PR-10L - I've encountered three of these in the last couple of years in the Southeast - I see more of the later PKN-10 series bikes that replaced them, for some reason.

AE-18, etc. - the be-fendered, rack and lamp-festooned cousin of the A0-8, and there were more of these sold than I would have thought ...
