.......... can anyone shed some light on a recent acquisition that came in as part of a job lot.....it's a 40 spoke chromed steel large flange Bayliss Wiley rear hub that looks to be circa. 40/50's, there's the usual oil port mounted in the centre of the barrel but what seems interesting is it has an integral freehub unit (with a satisfying ratchet sound not unlike the modern Campag.equivelant) it came with two screw on cogs although there seems to be room for more, the cone locknut spacing is 130mm. Other than Bayliss Wiley stamped on the barrel it has "Freehub Unit - Patent Applied For" ..........can anyone help in dating, advising how rare (if at all) and the maximum number of sprockets it would have had? regards Griff King-Spooner (London UK)
