The magic word here is

303 protectant!!

You can get this at boat or marine stores. I get it from Ocean River Outfitters (www.oceanriver.com) a kayak store in Victoria BC. This stuff is the best UV protector for everything from PFDs to gum hoods.

I believe this topic was covered some time ago but I've searched the archives and cannot find any information concerning the care of gum hoods. Does anyone have suggestions, products or otherwise, for preserving and extending the useful life of gum hoods?
