Hi,

I'm new to the list. I'm sure somebody will let me know if you need more introduction.

Silly moment:

It was early summer in 1993 or so. I was riding some back roads in Jersey County, Illinois. That's down south, near to St. Louis, Missouri. I was riding a scavenged 197x Crescent Stainless with an eclectic bunch of parts from hither and yon.

I was headed down a little incline when I saw a farm dog vectoring out to meet at a full run. He was some kind of a shepherding mix. I decided to hammer and literally put my head down to sprint. When I looked up, the dog was just entering the roadway and I saw that he was going to get to the intersection place before me. I can't say the decision was really cognitive, but I did decide that the dog would cross my path and come at my heels from behind. I remember seeing this in a vision. So I put my head down and pushed even harder.

The dog stopped dead in front of me. I hit him and went over the top. I had a little road rash and a bump on the head. The bike had a little road rash. But then the bike was never much of a looker, nor was I. After I got up, the dog came to my my side. He was just a big puppy with bright eyes and a panting tongue and acting as though he wanted to do it all over again.

On the road home, I decided to buy a helmet.
