Any part that evolves over the years with small changes is always more valuable to the collector as the original (or earlier) version.

This, of course, is irrespective of whether the part was changed for good reason or not. Most times the part was changed for a _very_ good reason.

I guess the word "reason" doesn't always figure into the game of collecting ;)
