Ron Kitching catalog from 1955 lists Payre pedals that were "constructed without consideration of expense...that are the realisation of mechanical perfection." Made of "Cegedur" (forged aluminum alloy) and with sealed bearings at each end.

The neat thing about the Roger Piel pedals was that you removed one of the screws holding on the end plates to oil the plain bearings in the pedals. They came on the Jean Aerts (Belgium) bike I have from the very early 1950s.
