What significance does the Bianchi impression I've seen on some Bindas have? Were these made for Bianchi? Is it a real Binda if Alfredo didn't cut out the leather strap and rivet on the buckle? (Sorry, I couldn't resist) I really do need this info. Thanks!!

The Cinelli website states that the leather toe strap was invented by Cino Cinelli in 1951. Not true in my opinion, but there you have it.

The early ones have a brass roller that was later replaced with a plastic roller. The name Dino Bianchi stamped on the leather is probably the maker in Milan, and no relation to Bianchi the bike company. Bianchi is a pretty common name in Italy afterall.

Alfredo Binda won three Worlds: The first held in 1927, at Nurburgring, Germany. Also won in 1930 at Liege, Belgium and 1932 at Rome, Italy. Partial career wins:

Alfredo Binda 1925 Giro d'Italia 1 stage, Giro d'Italia Tour of Lombardy 1926 Tour of Lombardy Giro del Piemonte 6 stages, Giro d'Italia 1927 Giro d'Italia 12 stages, Giro d'Italia World Pro Road Race Tour of Lombardy Giro del Piemonte 1928 Giro d'Italia 6 stages, Giro d'Italia Giro del Veneto 1929 Giro d'Italia 8 stages, Giro d'Italia Milan - San Remo 1930 World Pro Road Race 2 stages, Tour de France 1931 Milan - San Remo Tour of Lombardy 2 stages, Giro d'Italia 1932 World Pro Road Race 1933 Giro d'Italia KoM, Giro d'Italia 6 stages, Giro d'Italia
