Greetings, all.

I'm new to the list. My current project is a Carlton Catalina touring bike, ca. 1960, pictures at http://www.nonlintec.com/carlton .

Anyway, a question: The bike has a lot of chrome, much of which was rusted. I removed the rust, and the chrome actually looks pretty good, but it has a lot of tiny pits that probably will rust again soon. So, does anyone have a suggestion for stabilizing it, short of replating it? I'll have to replate some of the parts, but I'd like to avoid that trauma (to both the parts and my financial status) wherever possible.

Thanks for any suggestions you can make.

Regards,
Steve Maas
