Chris et al,

back in 1972 I - as so many others - substituted my Huret Alvit with a Valentino (I was poor but capturered by the Campagnolo mystique) only to find that it shifted even worse than the Alvit.

To the fury of my (then) wife when she found out I bought myself a NR shortly afterwards and put the Valentino in a drawer.

Shortly afterwards when offering a budding bike fellow that "Valentino I have in a drawer" another friend of mine remarked: "Well, isn´t it funny, everybody seems to have a Valentino, but everybody has it in a drawer..."

That´s the ugly truth. The Valentino is not a rd to be used, but it is certainly due to its place in cycling history an item to be collected.

I threw mine away, with the Alvit. Stupid me.

cheers

Olof Stroh Uppsala Sweden

who hasn´t dared to read further in the ongoing thread on use or collect, haven´t the time, but will be back
