Hi Chuck, To each his own, but by the time I could afford to buy a new Super Record, I was very dissapointed that it had been aestheticly "improved". To my eye, the old S.R. (and the N.R.) is much more attractive. The same goes for the old "unimproved" milled N.R/S.R crank vs. the one produced after the introduction of C Record. But as I said, this is open to debate and very much a personal choice.
