The only comment I want to add here is one of historical correction: Essentially, Dario Pegoretti was Piniarello's contract builder for all of Indurain's reign, as well as a little beyond. Indurain rode very straightforward, uncomplicated, not-very-light, steel frames, tig-welded by Pegoretti. At least for now, he is unable to comment on any of this due to non-compete-type contract obligations, but soon all the details should be available.

Indeed, one of the main reasons Indurain was always held above the doping fray was that he never cared much about the weight of the bike, while all the confirmed dopers were also overly concerned with the weight of their equipment, as well as any other aspect that might give them an edge.
