Another item from the June '70 issue of Bicycling is a series of pictures from the Great Western Bike rally.
A large photo on page 13 shows one Phil Brown, accompanied by Millie Brown and Ann Greaves -- which trio apparently cycled from Oakland to the Del Mar Fairgrounds near San Diego to attend. Well that must be a good half-kilomile, eh?.
All are wearing knickers and jerseys with front pockets. Ann's Jersey says "Velo-Sport, Berkeley". Phil's bike has a logo like a pie sliced into 6 pieces, and I think maybe it's labelled SCIC. Phil himself sports the period-correct side-burns & mustache of the 60's (the sixties didn't really end 'til Nixon was out, right?). The caption points out that these people "had the right equipment and knew how to use it".
Could this be our own listmember Phil Brown?
