Hi gang, e-richie wrote - "if the fork on your old gillott breaks, and the only 531 blades available for the repair are drawn to a different shape, do you pester reynolds to re-manufacture to their 60s specs?" Gillott's bought them straight and curved the blades to their own spec in house. I am currently rebuilding a 1947 Gillott (with Chater Lea headclip). I was planning to fit a Cyclo "Ace" but find the chainstay is too narrow for the clip. Now fitting a Cyclo Super Olympic. The Dancing Chain shows this der,. as dating from 1935-1949 then goes on to describe how it was named for the 1948 Olympics held in London. This doesn't figure. Can anyone pinpoint the intro date of the Olympic? Bike is black with silver luglining. Durax chainset, Lyotard "Fauchaux" pedals. Curvy Lauterwasser bars and Alp/CLB brakes complement the curves of the Spear lugs - as does the chainwheel and derailleur. Hubs are s/f Blumfield Duralite laced 15/17 D/B rustless to 26" Asps shod with John Bull Lands End tyres. Will have Bluemels Featherweight mudguards if I can get them clean. While you're tooling up for the repro Campy gum hoods (!?)will you make us Brits a batch of Constrictor Honking Rubbers? Can anyone in the UK tell me who is televising the Tour De France this year?
