Nick: So then you only use Campy tan lithium grease in your bearings? Whatcha gonna

do when the only tubs left of it turn to tar?

Yes I do.Just found a second unopened tub about 3 months ago. That leaves me two unopened & one partially used tubs.I expect this will last the rest of my lifetime.

How about shifter and brake cables and housings? Only the first-gen. NOS

Campy ones good enough?

Yes again. Its 1.8 or nothing.Have plenty of these for the vintage rides.Several NOS & also some slightly used versions.

How about ball bearings? Only the correct NOS Swedish SKF ones will do?

Yep.Most of these are from slightly used Nuovo Record Gruppo parts.I do have several NOS.

How about vintage Italian handmade sewups? Talk about a wear item that's

tough to find NOS....

Nope you got me there. This is my next search & find mission.Won't be easy but patience is a virtue.Plenty of cash will be required also.

Just curious....

I love "period correct" NOS too, but it's a finite entity. When it's gone,

it's gone.

Every "restoration" takes more NOS goodies from the world's supply.

Greg one of the things I avoid is NOS.Well that's not entirely true. What I do buy;I sell to a prominent list member or trade for things I need.

I try to buy mostly excellent quality used equipment. All of my bikes are users.I find it hard to justify the cost of NOS/NIP.I don't want to look at it.I want to use it.The cost differential of slightly used versus NOS is about

half. The heavy wear items I will horde away several good quality back ups.

Just tryin' to get these things through my lifetime & possibly on to the next generation in reasonably good user condition.

BTW I use shield logo hoods. The world logos are tucked away in hermetically sealed vaults.

Cheers,
