For me enjoy a bicycle, a car, a fishing rod, a chefs knife or a clarinet etc. it must represent more than technological perfection. My favourite bicycles have been my Hetchins, my Mercian, my Carlton. My favourite fishing rod was the beautiful green-heart rod my father gave me when I was about seven years old,my favourite car was definitely my 1967 mini, my favourite kitchen knives are my Henckels, (although I really lust after Sabatiers...) my favourite clarinets are my Buffets. I love my Marples woodworking tools. I could go on and on but when I use these things I am in touch with art, craftsmanship and history. My Specialized "Rockhopper" maybe reliable but it is ugly and soul-less. Lawrence Bradley, Tacoma, WA, USA
