I agree completely! I hadn't thought of that! "Perceived as"? The stuff was stinko! Synchro 1 and 2 were super lemons! In fact, C-Record, Victory, etc., was not all that hot either, many dumb design aspects and boner products (SGR pedals, Delta brakes, crappy operation aero brake levers, new unwanted chain ring patterns) and Croce D'Aune was a dumb exercise. Meanwhile Shimano was honing their swords to slice into all the enthusiast business. Then Campy's pathetic mountain bike products sealed the deal. We at CDo were hugely biased toward Campy going into the 1980s but had to eat goat and promote products that worked and were worth our customers' expenditures..
