I have a couple of 980's I bought in one of the Bicycle Classics sales a couple of years ago. These are Victory/Triomphe era, and probably have about the capacity of those derailleurs, which was probably a bit better than NR, 30T perhaps. There is an FD to match the 980, not sure if it's called 980 or something else. The FD is rather simple, but classic looking and shifts rather well. I think the front derailluer in the Nuovo Grand Sport gruppo was similar to NR, but not as nice a finish. It was the RD that was the weakness in the Nuovo Grand Sport gruppo.
