With regard to Eddie B's statement that the Poles ride the best.
I know of a Merckx track bike reputed to be used by the Polish team at the 1984 L.A. Olympics. Indeed, all Campy, gorgeous bike. The story goes that the Polish team practiced in Chicago at the Northbrook Velodrome before the Olympics. On the way home, they stopped again in Chicago and sold their gear. They could always get more bikes in Poland, but dollars were hard to come by.
I'd love to verify that story.
