The Universal calipers I had were like the ones on the Bicycle Specialties web site and I got them in the '60s. But I just took a close look the photo hanging on my office wall - it's Coppi in the '46 Tour de France. The cables do connect to the left side of the brake as you face them. (Of course I'm making the assumption that Coppi's bike had Universal brakes.) So what does it all mean? Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia
