The Velo Rendezvous coming up Oct. 4, 5 & 6 is only four weeks away.
The event hotel, The Courtyard Marriott in Old Pasadena, has advised me that the weekend rate is $79 per night and is lower than a group rate that they could offer me (go figure). This is a very nice hotel, so the rate is a real bargain! And it is very close to all the events, so it is highly recommended. Be sure to use the _local_ phone number to get this low rate!
If you are planning on attending, now is the time to send in your check (late fees kick in September 27).
Please email me with a list of the bikes you intend on bringing so I can post them on the Velo Rendezvous web site <http://www.velo-retro.com>. Don't despair if someone else is going to bring the same make and model bike that you were going to enter. For historical study I think it is important to be able compare and contrast more than one example of the same bike.
The bike show is a very low key event as far as judging. It is a participant's choice affair with first, second and third choice (the criteria for judging is determined by each individual). I wouldn't hesitate to bring "old soldier" bikes; bikes that have been ridden hard and not in the best of cosmetic condition, but still possessing all of their wonderful originally. Bikes in their original condition are a very important historical resource.
I'm finalizing the list of speakers and topics for the Symposium on Saturday and will post more info on the web site and on the CRlist as it becomes available...
