At this point I have to wonder if a normal NOS 1983 SR reduced group wouldn't command MORE money than a 50th anniversary. Lots of people mothballed their 50th groups and you see them somewhat frequently on Ebay. When was the last time you saw an NOS SR reduced group? How about just an NOS SR fluted crankset? Okay, so the normal group may not be worth more, but very near as much? Perhaps. Resale value aside, I'd rather have the real group than the Franklin Mint commemorative-anniversary-edition-with-club-card-and-certificate-of-authenticity. Actually it went $780 and was missing the pedals and toe clips, a set of which just sold on Ebay for about $130, bringing it to just over $900. There is also a NOS 50th anniversary gruppo for sale, with all components still in the suitcase (except the hubs which were built up for show and therefore never used). At $950 it isn't getting any takers.
