List members I have recently acquired a JACK TAYLOR TANDEM frameset(my FOLLIS needed company) Upon receipt I discovered that the stokers seat tube is collapsing, the frame is MEN S/LADIES configuration and almost 40 years of riding has caused the rear seat tube to bow forward a good 1/2''. A local builder ,PAUL TAYLOR(no relation to the original builders) has said he could replace the seat tube with one of heavier gauge, no problem. Unfortunately paint and decaling would be damaged(this bike has led a hard life and paint and decaling were pretty sad ......and purple or plum are not my colors anyway) I have managed to get a new decal set ,so now that that hurdle is over the big question to me is whether to keep it as a MEN S/LADIES or convert it to a MENS/MENS and thus eliminate the offending down tube(ladies top tube) Reassembling with period running gear was never an option(1962-3) but I do currently have half of what it would take to build it with 70/80s gear. Any and all feedback appreciated..........I do not have any emotional attachment to this bike so I am mulling over my next step.............wonder how long it would take to learn pin striping so I could replace the 1 or 2 hundred feet of striping on this frame?
