Let me state this another way...
The rare things are being bought consistently by a few well know buyers that leave the rest of us small fry in the dust when it comes to spending large coin. Outing auctions has no effect on these big spenders. I doubt they are even reading the list. And they are certainly not relying on people outing auctions to find stuff to buy.
