I remember an impromptu kermesse during the Red Zinger in Aspen in 1978. The day's schedule showed a crit, but because of what I guess was construction, it was changed at the very last minute by Aisner and Co. into a kermesse up and down the main drag in front of the Hotel Jerome...kind of wild in the hairpins at each end! Sctually it was a mess, a ker-messe.
