Having someone interested in the Motobecane that I am selling I have had the questions put to me for threading of the BB and steertube. In knowing that some French bikes went to English threading years back I took a English headset cup and it threaded on the steertube fine. The English BB cups threaded in about three or four turns then got tight, but the threads look like they needed chasing, not to mention the shell needing faced. The seat tube appears to be 26.4 and the steertube accepted a 3T stem for the first inch or so, but it appears to have a small lip or something that is keeping it from fully inserting. Does anyone know when they might have switched to English threading. Are French threads and sizing that much different that no of this would be possible?
