I'm trying to figure out what parts to put on my '75 Iride that currently has early '80s parts on it. I think only the headset is original (a chrome steel Ofmega unit), otherwise pretty much everything else on it is too new and more or less top of the line. The frame is not quite a top of the line model from my perspective, so I'd love a little help figuring out what would be appropriate parts that are not 'top of the line'. What would you select if you had to build an Italian race bike on a budget in 1975? And how much of it is generally available today? I'm not looking for NOS parts (I probably couldn't afford them) but if you've got something that you think would be appropriate for this project let me know.
