TA pedals changed over the years, so mine (~79) may not be the same as yours, but on mine the cages have aluminum pins that project towards the axle, at the innermost point on the cage (nearest the crankset) to be used for corralling the straps. In fact the pins are on the front *and* back of the cage, not for double straps I think but just because the cages are replaceable, and this way they didn't have to make and stock different right and left cages - R and L are identical.

Also I seem to remember I did get straps to fit though the slots in the body, though with much grunting and swearing, pulling the straps with pliers. So this may well not have been the intended way to run the straps.

Check out the TA pedal pictures and drawings at Joel Metz's excellent website: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/magpie/ta/pedals.html - especially this catalog image of just the cage: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/magpie/ta/images/ref690.jpg

Here's pictures of a couple different variations over the years: http://www.blackbirdsf.org/magpie/ta/ref4690.html Old ones at the top of the page; scroll down for newer ones

I don't think that's right, I think Gran Sports only had the bolt on top. The similar-looking Valentino had the bolt in front, usually I think with the hole drilled on through so it is visible in back as well.

I welcome corrections, if there was a true Gran Sport with bolt in front!

Some amateurish snapshots I took illustrate the differences: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Campy/Valentino'n'GranSport_F_Ders_F_view.jpg http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Campy/Valentino'n'GranSport_F_Ders_rear_view.jp g http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Campy/Valentino'n'GranSport_F_Ders_side_view.jp g

If those links wrap or just don't work for whatever reason you can go to http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Campy/ and scroll down to the links to those pictures.
