David Stow asks " What happens with a kevlar or folding bead tire?"

I made the mistake of putting a pair of folding tires on an old wheelset then pumped them up to about 90psi. They held firm for about 5 minutes when suddenly the bead blew off the rims. I was in the garage about 5 feet from the bike, as was my 5 year old boy. The sound was like that of a gunshot. My kid jumped in the air and wet his pants. I very nearly did the same.
