What a topic for my first opinion-post to this list! My '02-cent's worth: Copyright applies to product, restoration of a builder's product using duplicated decals is no more unethical than re-painting it in the original scheme! That IS after all, what restoration is! Now, to manufacture Jerseys with a trademarked logo, THAT is something that you hair-splitters needn't expect arguement about, though I wonder how many folks here have checked with a manufacturer for authorized use of their trademarked logo before buying a Jersey at a shop?

Other replies have alluded to intentional mis-marking of a frame, one poster who would not provide decals for non-period-correct Masis is a lesser example of this. A more blatant example would be the query from someone wondering if a refinished bike with Cinelli decals was, in fact, a mexican Windsor! If your potential supplier is stand-up enough to insist that he and he alone apply his work product-reproduction decals only to frames he himself has refinished (and can thus accurately identify them prior to re-decaling), thats about as ethical as can be, ANY one who questions such practice really is too close-minded to even deserve a response!
