Is 1R the Cinelli for which they advise that current owners simply replace the alloy bolt with another type or am I thinking of another Cinelli stem model? I seem to recall getting this advice when I was looking for short reach (80m) Cinelli stem but ended as per the lists advice with Nitto high rise and short reach.

I too never had a problem with a Cinelli 1R (hidden clamp) and have used them since 1977 on a bunch of bikes. Use plenty of lube; no slipping and no creaking...
