I would love to get this bike to match up to my newly arrived Holdsworth trike conversion kit. It would appear that it will however go out of my money range. I bought the trike kit sight unseen and just received it yesterday. The seller told me it was old, but given that it appears that Holdsworth stopped making these kits back in the 70's, I didn't think much of this description. Having now received it, I can now tell that it is much older than I thought. It has even came with a Regina 4-block freewheel. From what I can tell, it may well be from the 40's or perhaps 50's. It has a serial number 655 on the drop-out and the rear drive axle. Does anybody have any idea as to how I can date this kit?

Would anybody have a relatively inexpensive frame that that I could buy to build up the conversion kit with? I am looking for a frame that will permit me to have a saddle top to pedal-top at the bottom of the downstroke distance of 91,5 cm (36"). On a road bike, this usually means going for a 56,5 cm frame (C/C), but to permit the acrobatics needed on a trike, I would accept an even smaller frame too. Basically, anything between 55 and 60 cm would do. If the frame were smaller than 56,5, I would however need to use the longer MTB seatposts and if I am not mistaken, they are not availabel in all diameters. As there is a gear hanger on the conversion kit, I could work with either a road or track frame. In many respects, a track bike is even preferable. The fork also does not need to accompany the bike, as I would like to mount 2 brakes and any fork would therefore need to be modified or made to order. Please respond off-list if you have any suggestions. Maybe we will be able to arrange some trike races some time!
