Hmmm. I never saw a 144 Shimano road chain ring pattern either. I thought Shimano (Dura Ace) bravely broke away from Campy-initiated 144 mm to use 130 mm from the very beginning? I remember (albeit a faulty memory system at work!) Assos being the first company to match step with Shimano and use the 130 as well. Sugino and Suntour kept with the "old" 144 pattern for a while...

Ditto, can anyone confirm? (I know... Chuck, you have the chain ring guide reprint available for $12.95, right? Ha!)
