I just went through that to replace my Cinelli.Vintage long quill- "It's not going to happen" said Mt Airy bikes on the phone (maybe Larry) I wanted a Cinelli or TTT too. Bought the Technomic deluxe from Rivendell. The one Technomic, the deluxe, that no one else carries is beautiful. It's of just the right height for many-4 1/2 inches locknut to top bolt, measuring on the backside. The other, still pretty, is the regular, and even taller Technomic- gets those bars way up, yet another 1 3/4 inches up or so.. But you may have trouble getting them low enough with this. You can also get this one from Sheldon. Other listmembers (Thankyou all) encouraged my considering Nitto Technomic-"As nice as Cinelli" and similar said some. Even looks like Cinelli, crests included.I just wanted the real vintage deal at the time and I guess this is your motivation.Consoled myself with Cinelli tape. There is one more obscure but not pretty option called a stem riser. Your stem inserts in it to add height.Sheldon has them but advised that while functional, they are ugly, becoming a focal point on the bike.I still would like to see one. If some Listmembers (or Dale as our Leader) would just supply an email "Official Pardon" for using the Nitto I would feel completely exonerated. But I need too many pardons so I will save that request.
Only other solution I have seen is those adjustable Kalloy stems, clearly not vintage looking, but not royally ugly.I am happy with my choice.

Actually something like a Nitto Technomic, but in an older, preferably British made brand. 22.2 quill, 110 -120mm extension. Basicly needs to have a longer quill than the average 3TTT or Cinelli stem. Any ideas, or am I wishing for something that never was?
