I used the Mariplast colored bottles exclusively during the early 1980s and never had any trouble with them shattering. However, the strap holding the lid to the retaining ring and the strap holding the cap to the lid were both weak points, and would eventually break.

The only time I had a bottle shatter was when the crystal clear bottles came-out about 1982. I can't remember now who made those.
