Subject: [CR]Fixed Gears and Hallett's Bike Ship--VeloNews

The 24 Feb issue of VeloNews, P.76, At the Back, has an article on fixed gear riding. The author, Ben Delaney, does a nice job of describing Richard Hallett's World Championship Bike Shop in Albuquerque--a shop where I spent mucho time and a not inconsiderable amount of money over the past 12 years. But, it is his description of fixed gear riding and how, just possibly, it might lead to insanity, that makes me write this to CR. Given the discussions about fixed gears over the past week while discussing what bikes to bring to Cirque, I now have a better appreciation for what caused the enthusiastic embracing of such torture tools and a better appreciation for the people who ride them. I couldn't find a link to the article, but it is worth a read. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
