I'll talk about this one. I firmly beleive, that you can't exactly re-creat the past. Many parts are no longer available, and you have to use modern parts, unless you find used or NOS parts. And in that case, why not a used or NOS frame?

That was thought 1.

To me, what makes a Peugeot PX10 what it is, is not that it is the greatest frame ever. But that it was, in 1970, a very interesting design. That could easily be outdone today. But it is the combination of components that were selected to produce a race bike for <$300 in 1970 is what is interesting to me. In other words, the time of manufacture and the social/economic environment are inseperable to me. I just bought a used Olympic typewriter from about 1960. Same one my father wrote his PhD thesis on. Same one I wrote my highschool papers on. My computer is, in my opinion, a better instrument. I would never make or buy a newly made olympic typewriter today, but I am glad it is available used.

That was thought 2. I hope they help continue the thread
