I still occasionally use my Prealpina on top of a Peugeot 505. The rack came with really cheesy bolts. They must have been SAE grade -4 or something. It was really easy to snap them, even with the wimpy little stamped steel wrench that came with the rack.

One time the fork mount didn't hold, and I'm glad. I was moving and had loaded up the car with a bunch of stuff. When I got to the new house I drove into the garage without thinking and heared a wack and scrape. I had forgotton about the bike on the roof! Not just any bike either. A 1940's Jean Aerts with the lightest steel frame I've ever seen and really beautiful lugs. Fortunately the fork mount gave way and the only damage the frame had was some scraped paint on the headtube.

Leonard Bulger Ann Arbor, MI A really beautiful day with a blue and not too much snow.
