Once again I feel as if I'm stepping on Chuck's toes by posting before him, but I can't resist.

On the most beautiful day you can imagine, not a cloud in the sky, temps at about 65, I went riding with a great group of people. This time I brought my 13 year old son who rode his Klein mountain bike. I was on my old '75 Cuevas. My wife couldn't make it on her Holdsworth due to a nasty dose of the flu which will just NOT go away.

I had to sort-of persuade my son to come by reminding him that I had gone "cosmic bowling" with him 'til midnight last night. About half-way through the ride he said that he'd like to try riding one of the old road bikes "next time". How cool! When we got home he told his mom about how great the ride was and how nice all the other riders were to him. I was so proud of him for trying as hard as he did to keep up with the pace. And pleased to introduce him to such a nice bunch of people. Thanks to all.

During and after the ride, I was thinking about who will continue to appreciate our hobby after we're gone. I spent a little time pointing out lugs and detail to my son without going on so long as to bore him. He'll have a few neat bikes some day, I hope he will appreciate them. Days like today can't hurt!
