Subject: [CR]continued saga of the mystery bike

I know my little mystery frame does not even compare to the excitement of the drama that has been occurring on the list recently, or the Cinelli tourer on Ebay.

And since I just had to turn down a perfect Tommasini due to the fact that March is tighter than I originally anticipated (I'm so sad), the mystery bike is all the project I have at present, besides collecting parts for my 39th birthday Waterford. A girl cannot have too many fine bicycles...

As I also post on the IBOB list (yes I'm one of those people with an original off topic, out of era Bridgestone) I thought I'd let Sheldon take a crack at IDing the mystery bike. He said Fuji Newest, so I found out who was the product manager at Fuji - who had also been there almost 20 years and sent him the pics.

Steve Fairchild was kind enough to reply right away, and said it was not a Newest, but felt it could be a number of other Japanese machines, including as Mark Ritz had suggested, a Miyata.

After looking at the orange Koga Miyata on Dale's site, I can see some similarities in the lugs.

Since no one appears to be home at the Koga Miyata USA site, and I do not know any local dealers who sold Miyatas, I am appealing to those of you who might patronize an LBS that sold Miyatas and appears to keep good records, to give me contact info for that shop. I know we keep sales records with serial numbers for years, even back to when my shop opened.

I'm hoping that there is some rhyme or reason to the serial number and the interesting detail on the lug work will help pin this bike down as to it's origins.

I've decided to keep my perfect NR gruppo in the closet and build this bike up with era Shimano once it is painted. I've got a bit of it stashed, and it's not too costly to collect the rest on Ebay.
